Being born and raised in Winchester, Virginia, I might be a little biased about the area. However, I think this is a great place to live and, I am not the only one! Forbes has not only named Winchester as one of the best places to retire, Winchester has also made the Forbes’ list of best places for businesses and careers. Our employment opportunities are vast! Amazon recently opened a huge warehouse employing over a thousand people, and the FBI has broken ground expecting to employ nearly five hundred more. All of this means that people are moving here, and real estate is booming. With summer almost over, people might be concerned that it is too late to buy or sell. However, in a market like this, seasons hardly matter, and fall can be an amazing time in real estate.
Typically, people think of spring and summer as the time to buy or sell, but fall has its benefits as well. The weather is more moderate in the fall, making it easier for people to get out and look at properties. Additionally, moving in the cooler temperatures is a major benefit: as the rush of summer house hunting comes to an end, there is lower traffic and better opportunities for buyers. Buyers tend to be more motivated as the end of the year approaches, and are trying to claim those tax breaks.
If you are thinking of selling your home, fall this is a great time to work on curb appeal in milder temperatures. Play with the fall colors, but make sure the leaves are raked up in the yard! Plant fall growing plants and flowers to spruce up the yard. Don’t forget to clean the windows and fireplace, and change the filters.
Winchester continues to grow, attracting people and businesses alike. If you are even thinking about buying or selling, now is the time! Remember, seasons do not matter and properties will not last in a market like this. The forecast shows continued growth in Frederick County and the surrounding areas, so don’t miss your opportunity!
